We work inside classrooms, so children learn to think, question, and speak for themselves.
Across 23 classrooms in Ahmedabad, EFAS builds the reading, reasoning, and life skills most schools never teach. It does not start in college. It starts in Grade 2.
In one year in an EFAS classroom, a child works towards being able to:
Read fluently
In Year 1, all 200 students in the 6 Adopt a Classroom classrooms could read sentences at endline.
Reason out loud
Give a reason for her answer without being asked.
Ask why and how
About the world around her, not just repeat what she was told.
Speak in English
For a minute in front of her class, every week.
Care for herself
Choose healthy food and take care of her own wellbeing.
And it doesn't stop with the child.
Her teacher learns to teach this way, so it continues after we leave.
Her parents are kept informed of her progress, and start asking schools for more than marks.
